In 1995 The Southern Illinoisan in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources started a Southern Illinois crappie circuit. This circuit was ran for 3 seasons and its main sponsor was Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer.
After the 1997 season, the circuit was dissolved. In the fall of 1999 Joel and Cyndy Drury and Bill Dial started The Southern Illinois Crappie Association. With a fall tournament on Kincaid lake, the SICA was born.
Since the first full season in the spring of 2000, we have enjoyed success every year since. Over the years there have been as many as 80 paid members per year, and we currently have 40 members paid for the 2015 season with more joining every day. We are anticipating our best member numbers ever and are looking forward to the 2015 season. Here's to a great year!
